The Children of Asher

The Children of Asher

1 Chron 7:40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their fathers’ houses, choice men, mighty men of valor, chief leaders. And they were recorded by genealogies among the army, fit for battle; their number was twenty-six thousand.
The text above is an exceptional way to have your children presented. Heck, I want to be one recognized as “Fit for Spiritual Battle” and my children described as above. Lord Help me! Because, we are called and chosen to lead our families. We are leaving behind a legacy… What will we be known for? What will our children carry on through us? The Words we Speak

The words we Speak

One Sunday Morning as we sang these lyrics My heart burst within me at each word. The importance of the words we speak just rang clear in my mind. I hope I explain this clearly and it touches your heart as well. The lyrics to this song that sparked this devotion are: You say, “Speak”,  We say, “Move”.  You say, “Watch what I can do”. Then it says, You say “Trust”, then You prove, you’re the God who moves the Mountains.

Don’t be afraid I’ve handed them over

Don’t be afraid, I’ve handed them over

The Lord said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid of them, for I ‘ve handed them over to you”. Not one of them will be able to stand against you.” The Lord said to Gideon, “I will deliver you with the 300 men who lapped and will give the Midianites into your hands; so let all the other people go, each man to his home.” – In other words, don’t be afraid, I’ve handed them over to you. In many stories of battle in the Bible the people would seek the Lord before a battle. The Lord would tell them if they should go forward in victory or if they should not. He would let them know if they would have victory before the battle even began. This gave them courage for the fight ahead. The people didn’t sit back and celebrate, they prepared for battle and fought with confidence.

Overwhelmed

Devotions and Encouragement: Overwhelmed

Have you ever just been overwhelmed? Of course we can all say at some point or another we have been. Whether it was something we really should be overwhelmed about is another topic for another day maybe. Well, one day God gave me an example to help me change my perspective when I am feeling overwhelmed. I hope it speaks to you as it did me.

Needlessly Overwhelmed

Needlessly, and unknowingly overwhelmed, I could picture myself standing doing some sort of balancing act with spinning plates. The spinning plates being all my responsibilities hopes, dreams and things expected of me.  All these “plates” were high above my head on different sized sticks, just imagine a plate spinner at a circus showing off their talent! Except, I wasn’t showing off any talent. I had lots of plates, and it was quite the task to keep them all up and spinning.
